ARRIVAL TO JAPAN

Experiences & Encounters

“We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.” -Anaïs Nin-

It’s been a lot going on since my arrival to Japan. Lot’s of things have happened and I have reunited with lots of friends. Sharing dreams and experiences with them is one of the things I enjoy the most.

My French friends from @leafluberon were here in Japan too. So I spent some amazing days with them in Kyoto learning about textiles and discovering the city.

Nishijin used to be one of the oldest textile neighborhoods in Kyoto, so we visited two textile studios there. It was really interesting!

The first one was a silk thread Dyeing Studio, where they still dye threads for ceremonial costumes and shrines.

These people are real experts and they can find colors and combinations just in a few minutes and without hesitation. They don’t use natural dyes, they only use synthetic ones.

Then we visited a Silk Weaving Studio, specialized in brocades made especially for shrines, monks and ceremonial costumes. They weave amazing textiles, and some of them take a very long time to weave. These textiles are really impressive.

At last we visited a Silk painting kimono Studio, where we could see how kimono’s are dyed by hand. Really impressive!

They have special techniques and abilities, and it takes a lot of patience and hard work to do this.

We also visited some Natural dyeing studios in Kyoto:

And of course we visited shrines and the bamboo forest. I specially love shrines here in Japan, so I love visiting them everytime I can.

I`m really greatful with my friends from @”leafluberon for inviting me to Kyoto!!!

We had such an amazing time! I met great people, and learned lots of new things!!

I think in life, encounters are the one of the things that matter the most.
